As of May 2009, there are over 1,600 CFA Institute members in China, which makes China one of the largest regions globally by the number of CFA members. The China market also sees the highest growth in both the number of new Level I exam registrations and the number of members.

According to a survey conducted in January 2009, 23.4% of CFA China members work for banks, 23.1% work for securities companies, 15.9% work for asset management companies, 13.5% work for finnacial advisory, CPA and consulting firms. 10.2% work for private equity & venture capital firms and the rest work for corporations, insurance companies and government agencies.
